The Flying Eagles were beaten 5-3 on penalties by a dogged South African side in their third place game in Niamey on Saturday evening.
Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule on Paul Aigbogun's boys thus,
Goalkeeper
Detan Ogundare: Had very little to do in the game but really should have done better in the ensuing shootout where he failed to stop any ball. (6/10)
Defenders
Solomon Ogberahwe: Tucked in brilliantly on the left channel in defence and never looked out of place. (7/10)
Valentine Ozornwafor: Ozornwafor was yet the busiest of the defenders, ditching out tackles and trying to stifle the opponent's attacks. (8/10)
Igor Ogbu: Solid enough alongside Ozornwafor. Had a few forays forward as he tried helping in unlocking a stubborn South African defence. (7.5/10)
Mike Zaruma: Wound up Luvuyo Phewa brilliantly and was a handful in the opposing areas. Laid on some nice balls which were not utilised. Beat Kubheka from the spot in the penalties. (8/10)
Midfielders
Jamil Muhammad: Yet one of the most influential players on show. Energetic and bossed his midfield effectively. Sent Kubheka the wrong way in the shootout (8.0/10)
Maxwell Effiom: Always tried to get in behind the South African defence with some trickery down the left wing. Really stamped his authority playing through the left channel. Took his kick with some aplomb. (7.0/10)
Peter Eletu: Did a fair share of work in central midfield and looked substantially efficient in the first period. Made way for Aboubakar after 55 minutes. 6.0/10)
Adamu Alhassan: Tenaciously hugged his midfield duties to great effect and was up for the challenge. Sent his spot kick too close to Kuhbeka in the penalty shoot out. (7.0/10)
Strikers
Aliyu Ibrahim: Had some cracks at goal from range and was a source of menace to the Amajita defence. Unfortunately pulled up with an injury 20 minutes from time. (6.5/10)
Paschal Onyekachi: Tirelessly covered every blade of grass in attack, laying on sleek passes as well as trying to score for himself. (7.0/10)
The Substitutues
Ibrahim Aboubakar: Got straight into the swing of things after replacing Eletu and nearly broke the deadlock with a superb shot in the 60th minute. (6.5/10)
Nazifi Yahaya: Went close with some efforts when he was introduced and added extra body for his team upfront. (6.0/10)
