NFF Elections: Pinnick, Akinwunmi, Gusau Remain In The Saddle After Comprehensive Wins
Published: September 20, 2018The incumbent President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has been elected president of the local football regulator following the elections held in Katsina on Thursday, September 20.
Thus, Pinnick will be in charge of running Nigerian Football for the next four years, until 2022 and becomes the first-ever president to be reelected.
The 45-year-old won 77.3 percent of the votes and his closest challenger Aminu Maigari got 18.2 percent of the votes, only two delegates (4.5 %) voted for Taiwo Ogunjobi while Chinedu Okoye scored zero.
Barrister Seyi Akinwumi has also been reelected as 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Federation, beating Otunba Ajayi 41-2.
Despite Dr Ifeanyi Ubah withdrawing from the elections for the position of "Chairman of Chairmen" following the emergence of Pinnick as the NFF supremo, he still got a vote from a delegate and Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau was declared winner with 42 votes while one vote was invalid.
