Lokomitiv Moscow manager, Yury Semin had taken time to analyse the defensive performance of his team in the wake of their 3-0 away loss to Galatasaray in their Champions League opener on Tuesday evening, as well as the showing of Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu.
Idowu, who has not featured for the Russian club in any of their first seven league games this term, made a surprise start at the Türk Telekom Stadyumu, featuring on the left channel of defense.
Garry Rodrigues opened scoring for the hosts after barely nine minutes before further goals from Eren Derdiyok and Seluck İnan compounded the woes of the Red and Greens.
However, though Semin was not too displeased with the performance of the Nigerian on his first Champions League appearance, he felt the scoreline was one too much to savour.
"How can you be satisfied after 0: 3? The result determines. Idowu played well. He came out in his position. Nothing unexpected. Three central defenders are also in their places. The scheme? If you lose 0: 3, then the scheme did not justify itself,'' Semin told Lokomotiv's official website post-match.

Meanwhile, Brian Idowu was disappointed that the Railway Men conceded soft goals, saying,'' We were probably too nervous in the beginning. Their goals came out of nowhere. We managed to take the game under our control for some time but it didn’t last long."
