Unai Emery Provides Update On Alex Iwobi's Future With Arsenal
Published: July 27, 2018Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi will turn down a move to Lazio and Everton in the summer transfer window, if the recent comments by Arsenal boss Unai Emery are anything to go by.
The Spaniard has confirmed that the winger is on the brink of penning a new contract, thought to be for five years.
''I have the information. I want to work with the players first,'' Unai Emery was quoted as saying by arsenal.com ahead of tomorrow's friendly against Paris Saint-Germain.
''This week, Mesut, Elneny and Iwobi are starting to work with us and our first impression is very good with them.
''My information is that he is going to sign and continue with us.''
According to the online edition of The Sun UK, the 22-year-old Iwobi will pocket at least £18.2 million (approximately N8.65 billion) over the duration of his new five-year deal.
He has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of nine and has 98 first-team appearances to his name since debuting for the club in 2015.
