Manchester United, Liverpool Monitor Nigeria's Most Promising Prospect

A move to the Premier League could be on the cards for Nigeria's most promising prospect, Samuel Kalu, next season, with top teams in the country keeping close eyes on the winger.

According to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, representatives from Manchester United and Liverpool were among twenty clubs in attendance during last weekend's clash between Gent and Standard Liege.

While the identity of their primary target has not been disclosed, Samuel Kalu has been the most impressive of the three Nigerian players that were on parade at GHELAMCO-arena (Gent).

Super Eagles duo Moses Simon and Uche Agbo started for their respective teams in the playoffs fixture but got replaced in the second half.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can authoritatively reveal once again that Simon is not on the wish list of Liverpool, they passed up the opportunity to sign him last summer, saying he was not their kind of player, before the capture of Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.

If it turns into a bidding war for the services of Samuel Kalu, the English teams will be favourites for his signature, with Monaco's earlier bid of six million euros deemed insufficient by Gent who value him in the region of €15 million.

Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim, Atalanta and Sevilla talent spotters also feasted their eyes on Kalu against Standard Liege.

Aged 20, the winger has been directly involved in 26 goals in 53 appearances since joining Gent from AS Trencin.
