Moses, Mikel & Balogun Named In Top 500 Most Important Footballers In The World
Published: April 10, 2018Three Nigerian players certain to be named to Nigeria's World Cup squad barring an injury have been included on the list of 2018 World Soccer 500, which contains the most important players in the world.
Chelsea right wing-back Victor Moses, Mainz defender Leon Balogun, Tianjin Teda's Obi Mikel and Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru are the Nigerian stars selected.
The well-known football magazine stressed that the list is not the ''best'' 500 players in the world but a list of the world's most talked-about players – the most newsworthy who, by definition, are the most important.
And they have suggested that Moses, Mikel and Balogun will be the three key players for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Young Anderlecht attacker Onyekuru made the list because he is a young talent who earned rave reviews in the past year and impressed in the Belgian First Division A prior to his spell on the sidelines.
Argentina stars Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, Nicolas Otamendi, Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain, Croatia's Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic, and Iceland's Gylfi Sigurðsson are among the top 500 most important players on the planet.
