Iwobi Dazzles In Cameo Role As Arsenal Beat Fierce Rivals Tottenham Hotspur
Published: November 18, 2017Arsenal claimed a wholly convincing 2-0 win over London rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs, a first triumph of that sorts in seven attempts since Mauricho Pochettino took charge of the Lilywhites.
Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez were the scorers in a smash-and-grab first half, the former profiting from a controversial freekick call from Mike Dean to place a looping header over Hugo Lloris in goal for Tottenham on the 36th minute.
Four minutes later, Sanchez edged Arsenal 2-0 up, Alexanadre Laccazette who had been quiet for most of it dancing in behind a below par defence to square for the Chilean who managed to squeeze an emphatic finish past the Spurs goalkeeper.
Nigerian whizkid, Alex Iwobi who started from the bench, left it late to make a little mark on the game, coming on for Mesut Ozil in the 83rd minute and orchestrating a quick break away attack the next before pouncing on a loose ball in the area but his effort blocked off.
The Hale End product went close yet again as the time tickled down, prancing into a compacted defense to place a shot which whistles just wide of the right-hand post.
