Victor Moses's Main Rival May Depart Chelsea For Roma In January
Published: November 12, 2017Victor Moses's main direct rival for a starting spot, Davide Zappacosta, could depart Chelsea in the winter transfer market, with reports linking him with a return to the Serie A.
According to Pagineromaniste, AS Roma are mulling over a move for the versatile Italian right wing-back.
Roma's director of sport Monchi is in the market for a right back following the long-term absence of Rick Karsdorp, who ruptured his cruciate ligaments while making his debut against Crotone on October 25.
Davide Zappacosta played second fiddle to Victor Moses before the Nigeria star suffered a hamstring injury vs Crystal Palace about a month ago.
The former Torino ace has started four matches in all competitions since Moses's injury-enforced absence but will find himself down the pecking order again in the coming weeks, with the number fifteen set to return to action after the international break.
With Chelsea still competing on four fronts -Champions League, Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup- it is unlikely that The Blues hierarchy will sanction the departure of Zappacosta when the window opens.
