Nigerian Wonderkid Okafor Scores, Provides Two Assists As Basel Thrash CSKA In UYL
Published: October 31, 2017Swiss club FC Basel put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify for the UEFA Youth League playoffs after a 4-2 thrashing of Russia team CSKA Moscow, with Swiss-born Nigerian midfielder Noah Okafor grabbing the headlines again.
The match day four fixture was staged at Leichtathletik-Stadion St. Jakob (Basel) on Tuesday evening.
Noah Okafor broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute before providing the assist for Basel's second goal scored by Schmid a minute later.
Although Basel controlled the game, the Russians managed to reduce the arrears through Oleynikov's deflected shot in the 73rd minute.
Pululu scored to restore the two-goal cushion in the 83rd minute, before Nicolas Suter increased the lead to 4-1 after he was fed by Noah Okafor, then Zhironkin netted for the visitors on 87 minutes.
FC Basel, who face Manchester United after the international break, are second in Group A with seven points.
