Nigerian-Brazilian Striker Dom Was On Nigeria Radar Before Bursting Onto The Scene
Published: October 30, 2017Vejle's Nigerian-Brazilian striker Dominic Uzoukwu could have debuted for the Nigerian youth teams long ago, before bursting onto the scene, it has come to light.
The former Cuiabá and Atlético Paranaense wonderkid had been sounded about the possibility of playing for the Nigeria U15s but could not travel to Nigeria to undergo training with the squad eight years ago.
''When he was 14 his uncle who was then Imo State Commissioner for Youths & Sports during Ohakim regime had wanted to him to play for the Nigeria U15s but he could not travel,'' a top source close to Dominic told allnigeriasoccer.com.
''He played both indoor and outdoor football and years later went to Corinthians FC for both indoor and outdoor football training and competition with much sacrifice.
''After returning from school, he'll rest for thirty minutes before going to train from 2pm - 5pm and 7pm-10pm Futsal training daily.
''If you are a minute late you are sacked because they are very strict in terms of time, so that's how football took him to where he is today''.
Dominic Uzoukwu, who has tallied 22 goals from 43 appearances for Vejle, has said that he won't reject a call-up to the Super Eagles if he's invited by the Nigeria Football Federation.
