Everton 2 Arsenal 5: Iwobi Benched, Lookman Subbed In, Akpom Not In 18
Published: October 22, 2017Arsenal returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion, thrashing Everton 5-2 at Goodison Park on game week nine in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Nigeria national-teamer Alex Iwobi was an unused substitute, Chuba Akpom wasn't in the Gunners 18 and England U20 World Cup-winning winger Ademola Lookman came on for the Toffees in the 74th minute.
Arsenal were out of the blocks quickly with some scintillating football but found themselves behind in the 12th minute when Wayne Rooney produced a stunner to give Everton the lead, his 15th goal against the London club since his professional debut.
On 40 minutes, Monreal equalized when he thumped the ball into the back of the net after Xhaka's initial shot was saved by goalkeeper Pickford.
Seven minutes into the second half, Mesut Ozil headed Arsenal in front, before providing the assist for Lacazette's goal in the 74th minute.
There was more joy for the traveling supporters when Aaron Ramsey made it 4-1 in the 90th minute.
Oumar pulled a goal back in injury time after intercepting Monreal's pass, before Alexis Sanchez was rewarded for his tenacity with Arsenal's fifth goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
The win saw Arsenal move to fifth position on the table with 16 points, level with Chelsea, who have a superior goal difference.
