For the second consecutive match in the tournament, Tottenham Hotspur defender of Nigerian descent Timothy Eyoma watched proceedings from the bench for the Young Lions, while Toronto FC striker Ayo Akinola started and went the distance for the Americans.
Two quick goals from Rhian Brewster in the 11th and 14th minute gave England a two-goal advantage at half-time.
Morgan Gibbs White's close range finish made it 3-0 England in the 64th, after he was assisted by the Liverpool striker.
Josh Sargent reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute and equaled Freddy Adu as the all-time leading scorer for United States in Youth World Cups with seven goals.
Deep into injury time, Rhian Brewster converted a spot kick to complete the scoring.
England will take on either Brazil or Germany in the semifinal on Wednesday.
