U17 World Cup: Eyoma Booked Again As England Beat Mexico In Five-Goal Thriller

In the game of the tournament so far at the 2017 Fifa U17 World Cup, England U17s beat Mexico 3-2 at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur right back of Nigerian parentage Timothy Eyoma started his second straight game for the Young Lions and went the distance.

The game remained goalless after 38 minutes but it was worth the wait, with Rhian Brewster firing a free-kick beyond goalkeeper  López to give England the lead a minute later.

Timothy Eyoma picked up his second caution of the competition in first-half injury time, which automatically rules him out of England's final Group F match against Iraq on October 14.

Two minutes into the second half, Foden dispatched the ball into the back of the Mexican net to double the advantage and it became 3-0 when Jadon Sancho scored from the penalty spot on 55 minutes.

Mexico did not give up and Diego Lainez scored two goals within seven minutes of each other, one of them off a deflection from an England defender, to set up a nervy ending.

Steve Cooper's side weathered the storm and are through to the knockout rounds with a game to spare.
