Troost-Ekong : The Ball Is In Our Court To Book World Cup Ticket
Published: October 07, 2017In what should be his last official words before stepping out on to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium pitch on Saturday evening to face Zambia, William Troost-Ekong is backing the Super Eagles to qualify for the World Cup with one game to spare.
If the four training sessions are anything to go by, the Bursaspor star will work again with his central defense partner Leon Balogun for the fourth straight game in the World Cup qualifiers.
''This game is crucial for us. We have worked hard to be in this position. Today, it is up to us to secure our place in Russia," said Troost-Ekong to the Nigerian Federation.
He ended with a message to his fellow Akwa Ibomites : ''Fill up the Godswill Akpabio Int'l Stadium, Uyo, on time this evening. Cheer your darling Super Eagles to the World Cup''.
Ekong netted two goals from his defensive position for Bursaspor before he reported for international duty, and will be celebrating his first goal in the national team's colours if he scores against Zambia.
