Manchester United Monitor Benfica Stars Ahead Of Champions League Clash
Published: September 09, 2017A representative from Manchester United witnessed the Portuguese Primeira Liga clash between Benfica and Portimonense on Friday night.
According to the official scouts and intermediaries list published , a Manchester United scout was among the 52, 795 spectators at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica (da Luz).
Manchester United also scouted Benfica's clash against Chaves and Sporting Braga before the international break.
The Red Devils have been drawn alongside The Eagles, CSKA Moscow and Basel in Group A of the Champions League, and will face the Portuguese opponents on October 18 in the third round of matches.
Other clubs that sent their representatives include Alanyaspor, Belenenses, Eintracht Frankfurt, Monaco, Marseille, Sampdoria, Sheffield Wednesday, Tondela, Olympiakos, SD Eibar and Vitoria Setubal.
The game finished 2-1, with Fabricio netting the visitors while Jonas and André Almeida registered their names on the score-sheet for Benfica.
Jose Mourinho's Manchester United, who top the standings in England, are guests to Stoke City in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
