Nigeria's Richest Man Vows To Sack Arsene Wenger If He Acquires Arsenal
Published: August 17, 2017Aliko Dangote, who is widely regarded as the richest man in Nigeria, has stated that he will sack manager Arsene Wenger if he acquires Arsenal in the near future.
The 60-year-old businessman revealed that he has been interested in buying the London club for more than thirty years, and will firm up his interest once the construction of his $11 billion oil refinery in Lagos is completed.
''The first thing I would change is the coach. He has done a good job, but someone else should also try his luck,'' Dangote told Bloomberg.
Dangote is confident he can strike a deal with Arsenal's major shareholders Stan Kroenke and Alisher Usmanov.
''If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away. Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away.
''And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that''
Frenchman Arsene Wenger penned a fresh two-year deal with the Emirates outfit this summer, despite the club failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in twenty years.
