Liverpool Celebrate 'New Rashidi Yekini' After Debut Goal In Belgium
Published: August 14, 2017Liverpool were presumably delighted with Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awonyi after he made an immediate impact on his competitive debut for Belgian First Division A club Royal Excel Mouscron.
Dubbed in some quarters as the New Rashidi Yekini in his homeland, Awoniyi celebrated his 20th birthday in a beautiful way by giving Royal Excel Mouscron the lead in the 23rd minute against Lokeren.
In their weekly review of loanees, Liverpool stated on their official website: ''On-loan Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi marked his first appearance for Royal Excel Mouscron with a goal on Saturday.
''The Nigerian hit the target on 23 minutes to help his side to a 2-0 victory against Lokeren in the Belgian top flight.''
Former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles sensation Awoniyi was acquired by Liverpool in the summer of 2015, and previously enjoyed loan spells in Germany and the Netherlands.
