Chelsea's Nigerian Striker Ike Ugbo Denied Maiden Professional Goal
Published: August 08, 2017Young Nigerian striker Ike Ugbo was denied his maiden professional goal in Barnsley's 4-3 win over Morecambe in the opening round of the Caraboa Cup on Tuesday night.
The England U20 international was involved in the build-up to The Reds second goal in the 22nd minute, and was initially credited with the goal, but it was later deemed to be an own goal by Mitchell Lund.
Ugbo went on a superb run down the Morecambe right, showing blistering pace and crossed into the box before it was turned home.
The 18-year-old striker had a chance to score Barnsley's fourth goal in the 73rd minute but his shot was blocked, before he subbed out with 13 minutes remaining.
The Chelsea loanee made his professional debut for Barnsley in their first competitive game of the new season versus Bristol City this past weekend.
