Tottenham Hotspur Nigerian Wonderkid Named Player Of The Tournament In France
Published: July 31, 2017Two players of Nigerian descent played key roles as Tottenham Hotspur Development Squad won a European Under-21 Tournament in France on Sunday.
England youth internationals Timothy Eyoma and Keanan Bennetts both started for Spurs in the showpiece game against Standard Liege, which the London team won after a penalty shoot-out (5-4).
The 18-year-old Bennetts was named Player of the Tournament thanks to his dazzling displays at left-back.
The attacking midfielder was moved into defense by manager Wayne Burnett due to the unavailability of Jaden Brown, who is training with the first team, and Nick Tsaroulla, who is recovering from injury.
Eyoma provided the assist for Tottenham Hotspur's second goal, and Bennetts coolly converted his spot-kick during the shootout.
Born in London to a German mother and Nigerian father, Keanan Bennetts is eligible to represent the senior national teams of Nigeria, England and Germany.
