Arsenal Drop Big Hint: Two Nigerian Wonderkids Omitted From Tour Squad
Published: July 10, 2017Rumours surrounding the future of two Nigerian wonderkids Chuba Akpom and Kelechi Nwakali will continue to grow in the coming days, with manager Arsene Wenger omitting the duo from a training camp in Australia and China.
Hale End Academy product Akpom had trained with the first team before they departed for Australia on Sunday night, while Nwakali returned to London last week to sort out his future.
The England U21 international has been routinely linked with a permanent departure from the Gunners this summer, having had loan stints at Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton.
The 19-year-old Nwakali is set to be farmed out on loan for the second consecutive season after failing to secure a work permit.
Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi has been named for Arsenal's two-week tour of Sydney, Shanghai and Beijing.
And the 21-year-old will be hoping to start the pre-season at full throttle after losing his first-team place towards the end of the 2016-2017 campaign.
Arsenal will face Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers, Bayern Munich and Chelsea during the pre-season tour of Asia.
