EPL Wrap: Ndidi Shines; Young Stars Iheanacho,Tosin, Asoro, Maja Omitted; Anichebe Injured; Ibe Subbed In

Catch up on the performances of players of Nigerian descent in the English Premier League on Saturday, May 13.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Tosin Adarabioyo were omitted from Manchester City 18-man squad in their controversial 2-1 win over deposed champions Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi logged 90 minutes for the Foxes and came close to breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute but his header flew over the bar. Teammate Ahmed Musa was a non-playing substitute for this one.

Goals from Jay Rodriguez and Nathan Redmond gave Southampton a two-goal advantage, before Patrick Bamford scored what turned out to be only a consolation in the 72nd minute.

Swansea City's destiny to avoid the drop is in their own hands thanks to their 2-0 win over already demoted Sunderland.

Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe kept his place in the Black Cats starting line-up but was replaced in the 37th minute after picking up a suspected hamstring injury.

Ahead of the Premier League International Cup final, Joel Asoro and Josh Maja did not make Sunderland's 18-man squad.

Two first half goals from Fernando Llorente and Kyle Naughton secured crucial three points for Swansea City.
