Iwobi Benched As Arsenal Main Men Deliver In Win Against Middlesbrough
Published: April 17, 2017Arsenal are back in the hunt for fourth spot following their 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Monday night.
Super Eagles attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi is still finding game time hard to come by, but the Hale End Academy product was an unused substitute tonight unlike last week's clash versus Crystal Palace that he was with the U23s.
A trademark free-kick from the brilliant Chile international Alexis Sanchez gave the Gunners the lead three minutes before half-time, the goalkeeper remained rooted to the spot.
In the early phase of the second half, 50th minute, Boro got their equalizer when Stewart Downing got the ball into the box, Negredo applied the finishing touch and this breathed new life into the match.
Arsenal were back in front in the 71st minute thanks to a goal from German ace Mesut Ozil after he was set up by Ramsey.
Arsene Wenger's side had suffered four consecutive away defeats before tonight's win, a result that took them to sixth position on the table with 57 points, seven less than fourth-placed Man City who have played one game more.
