Former Most Expensive Teenager Signed By Chelsea Babayaro Returns To Stamford Bridge
Published: April 01, 2017Retired Nigeria international Celestine Babayaro will be among the spectators when Chelsea tackle Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues have officially announced that the defender is one of the distinguished guests at Stamford Bridge today.
“Former Blues left-back Celestine Babayaro is at the Bridge today and is currently talking to Chelsea TV pitchside, ” Chelsea tweeted.
Now 38 years, Babayaro was the most expensive teenager signed by Chelsea when he joined the club in 1997 from Anderlecht for a fee of £2.25 million, and spent eight years in London before transferring to Newcastle United.
He is still the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Champions League when he started for Anderlecht in a 1-1 draw against FC Steaua Bucure�ti, aged 16 years and 87 days.
