Fanendo Adi Equals Portland Timbers Legend Scoring Record
Published: March 26, 2017Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi tallied his fourth goal in Major League Soccer this term in his team’s 3-2 loss to Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium on Sunday morning.
When the Nigerian frontman netted in the third minute of stoppage time, he equaled a record held by NASL great John Bain for the most goals scored in a Timbers uniform across all eras.
Bain set the goalscoring record after playing 148 games for Portland Timbers from 1978-82, while Adi registered his 45 goals in 94 matches.
The former AS Trencin and FC Copenhagen ace has scored 4 goals in 4 games against Columbus Crew.
Ex-United States U23 international Amobi Okugo lasted the distance against the team from Ohio.
