Westminster Terror Attack : NFF Request Super Eagles To Wear Black Armbands Vs Senegal
Published: March 23, 2017The Super Eagles are expected to wear black armbands tonight when they tackle Senegal in an international friendly in honour of those killed in a terror attack outside the UK Parliament on Wednesday.
London Police say five people, including the attacker, were killed after a car ploughed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London.
The Nigeria Football Federation stated via Twitter : “We’ve proposed to organizers of today’s friendly vs Senegal, that our players wear black bands & observe a minute silence for #Westminster”.
Westminster Bridge is 12.3 miles away from the Hive Stadium, the venue of Thursday’s clash between the West African powerhouses.
The England national team did not wear black armbands in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Germany in a friendly in Dortmund, but the FA say they will pay tribute to the victims in their home game versus Lithuania on Sunday.
