Chelsea Loanee Tammy Abraham Will Not Debut For Nigeria Against Senegal
Published: February 18, 2017Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham will not make his international debut for Nigeria when they face Senegal in an international friendly next month.
While the Nigeria Football Federation have not yet convinced the attacker to dump his country of birth, England, for the Super Eagles, he is not in contention to be selected for the friendly against the Lions of Teranga.
Abraham, 19, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury in Bristol City’s 2- l loss to Leeds United on Tuesday night.
This season has been a breakthrough one for the lanky striker, with 18 goals scored in the Championship and 3 in the League Cup.
As earlier reported by this website, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is expected to travel to England in the coming days to hold talks with players of Nigerian descent about committing their international future to Nigeria.
Nigeria Football Federation vice president Seyi Akinwunmi has stated that he expects Abraham to challenge for a spot in the Super Eagles in 2017.
