Liverpool Ready To Swoop For Nigerian Wonderkid As Chelsea Confirm Exit
Published: February 18, 2017Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that England youth international of Nigerian heritage Dominic Solanke is set to depart the club at the end of this season.
Talks between Chelsea and the attacker have not led to him penning a new deal, and it is obvious that he will depart Stamford Bridge in the summer with Liverpool favourites to land his signature.
“I think [he will leave], I am not sure, but I think this is his will,” Conte told the national press.
“It is best to ask him why. For me, it is very difficult to answer this question because I have only been working with Chelsea for seven months.”
The Italian manager added : “I think for a young player to play in a great team like Chelsea is a great opportunity. I have spoken with him to try to understand his decision. It is normal. We must have a great respect for every decision.
"His contract expires in June and he has the choice to stay with Chelsea or to go away. I wish him and his family the best.”
Solanke , 19, has spent the whole of his career at Chelsea aside from a brief loan spell with Vitesse during the 2015-2016 season.
