Goalscoring Nigerian Midfielder Shines As Chelsea Win Title For A Third Year Running
Published: February 11, 2017Chelsea have won the Under-18 Premier League south section for a third consecutive year after a 3-0 rout of Leicester City in the Midlands on Saturday afternoon.
English-born Nigerian midfielder Tariq Uwakwe helped the Young Blues to secure the title, lasting 65 minutes on his 16th game of the season in all competitions, while defender Calvin Ughelumba played the full game for the Foxes.
Goals from Taylor-Crossdale and McEachran gave the visitors a two-goal lead heading into the interval, before McCormick converted his spot kick in the 85th minute to wrap up the scoring.
Uwakwe has been one of the standout players for Chelsea U18s this season, with six goals to his name from his midfield position, which makes him the second highest scorer for the side.
The versatile midfielder, who was born in North London, is an England U18 international.
