Tottenham Hotspur’s English-born midfielder of Nigerian heritage, Dele Alli, has claimed the Premier League EA SPORTS Player of the Month award for January.

The Spurs number 20 won the prestigious accolade ahead of  Harry Kane, Seamus Coleman, Alexis Sanchez and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

In winning the award for the first time in his career, Dele Alli becomes the fifth player of Nigerian descent to be named Player of the Month, following in the footsteps of Austin Okocha (Bolton Wanderers), Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa), Peter Odemwingie (West Brom) and Odion Ighalo (Watford).

January was a great month for Alli, after he netted five goals from five Premier League appearances and helping Spurs to accumulate 11 points from those fixtures.
