Nigerian Federation Investigating Iheanacho Lack Of Game Time At Man City
Published: February 08, 2017Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr will visit England in the coming days to hold discussions with Kelechi Iheanacho and manager Pep Guardiola over the attacker’s lack of game time in recent matches.
Prior to Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus making his debut for the Citizens, the Nigerian had made every single match day squad in domestic competitions - 24 in total - but has been frozen out in the last four games.
And ahead of the resumption of African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, the Nigeria Football Federation are worried about Iheanacho’s lack of game time and have sent Rohr on a fact-finding mission to Manchester.
“We have decided to send Rohr to Manchester City to see Iheanacho and discuss his situation with him and the club,” an NFF source told Pulse.
“Rohr is back from Gabon where he covered the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for a radio station as a pundit.
“He will be in England shortly to see Iheanacho and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City manager).”
Out of a possible 36 games contested by Manchester City this season, Iheanacho has started only nine.
