Ex-Newcastle United Defender Onyewu Training With Philadelphia Union
Published: January 25, 2017United States international Oguchi Onyewu has started training with Major League Soccer outfit Philadelphia Union, with a view to a transfer ahead of the 2017 season.
Philadelphia Union are in the market for a central defender and will snap up the experienced Onyewu if he proves his fitness during their pre-season training.
“I wouldn’t want to go that far right now. Never say never. That’s the way soccer is ,” Stewart told reporters, according to mlssoccer.com.
“Obviously we are looking for an experienced center back and I guess it’s pretty easy to see he fits the mold. But (the move] needs to fit.”
Onyewu, 34, numbers Standard Liege, AC Milan, Sporting Lisbon and Charlton Athletic among his former clubs.
