CAF Set To Settle Debate On Nigeria Most Promising Talent; Etebo, Iheanacho, Iwobi Shortlisted For Awards

Four Nigeria internationals, including three based in England, have been nominated by Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2016 Glo-CAF Awards.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Man City), Alex Iwobi (Arsenal), Oghenekaro Etebo (CD Feirense) and Asisat Oshoala (Arsenal Ladies) are the four players shortlisted for the other categories awards.

City striker Iheanacho goes head-to -head with Etebo for the Most Promising Talent in Africa, with Elia Meschak (TP Mazembe), Naby Keita (RB Leipzig) and Ramadan Sobhi (Stoke City) completing the nominees.

Attacking midfielder Iwobi has been rewarded after a breakthrough season in 2016, and is nailed on favourite to pick up the Youth Player of the Year award ahead of Ghanaian, Ivorian and Malian youngsters who have been nominated.

Top scorer of the African Women Cup of Nations Oshoala has been nominated for Women’s Player of the Year, while Super Falcons manager Florence Omagbemi is in the running for Coach of the Year.

The Nigerian U23 National Team and Super Falcons were nominated for National Team of the Year and Women’s National Team of the Year respectively.
