Ibadan-Based Journalist Cum Football Scout Warring With Ogunjobi Over Transfer Of Okiki
Published: June 27, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that an Ibadan-based journalist (names withheld) on the payroll of a South-African owned website is warring with former NFF secretary general Taiwo Ogunjobi over the transfer of Afolabi Okiki.
The photo journalist (with the initials K.A), who is also a football scout, had kept a cordial relationship with Ogunjobi in the past and recommended the Sunshine Stars striker to the football administrator after he was extensively scouted.
However, the relationship between the two partners turned sour after he was not paid following the loan moves of Okiki to Shooting Stars and Sunshine Stars, and the journalist has now gone on a media campaign to tarnish the image of the former NFF chieftain.
Now the story has changed. Earlier, Afolabi Okiki had pleaded with Nigerians to get him out of Argentina, adding that he was taken to South America against his will.
Okiki was with Marcelo Houseman this morning before he left for training and told allnigeriasoccer.com that the Argentine agent has promised to take him to Europe in the next four months and will know more after a meeting with officials of the Argentine club on Monday.
Whether the player was coerced to make those statements is another matter but this website has tested the validity of Marcelo Houseman’s claims and found them to be incorrect as the transfer window in most part of Europe will close for business in the next two months or so.
Therefore, the earliest possible time Afolabi Okiki can join a new club in Europe is January 2017.
