Chelsea Talent Tomori Did Not Develop Cold Feet Before Debut Against Leicester City
Published: May 20, 2016
Fikayo Tomori has admitted that he had an inkling that he will make his professional debut against Leicester City on the final day of the season in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old is predominantly a central defender but was asked to occupy the right-back position when he replaced Branislav Ivanovi thirty minutes from time, and reckons that he impressed in his maiden appearance for the Blues at senior level.
“There was talk of it before the game, little whispers to make sure I am ready and I was always getting up every three minutes to stretch my legs and make sure I am warm, ” Tomori told chelseafc.com.
“At half-time [assistant coach] Steve Holland told me to get warm and stay warm and about 15 minutes into the second half he called me over and it was mad.”
He continued : ”Centre-back is where I have played most of the season but I have played two or three games at right-back.
”It is a bit different physically and positionally but I tried to do the simple things and make sure I had a solid game, which I think I did.”
Fikayo Tomori, who is eligible to represent Nigeria, has been called up to the England U19s squad for the first time ahead of their friendlies against Mexico.
