Exclusive: Chelsea Loanee Omeruo Omitted From Nigeria U23s Provisional Roster For 2016 Olympic Games
Published: April 22, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo has not been selected in Nigeria’s provisional squad list for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The 22-year-old had indicated his interest that he would love to represent the Nigeria U23s at the Olympic Games, and had been tipped to make the roster, especially as he is within the age limit.
Dream Team VI coach Samson Siasia has drawn up a list of 60 players which has been sent to the Nigeria Football Federation and his name was missing from the roster.
Assuming Omeruo made the squad list for the competition and was given a run out in any of the matches, he would join a select group of players to have played in the five international tournaments sanctioned by Fifa.
The central defender represented the Golden Eaglets at the 2009 Fifa U17 World Cup before starring at the 2011 Fifa U20s, then played at the 2013 Confederations Cup and World Cup the following year.
