Chris Giwa Moves To Stop Shehu Dikko From Replacing Pinnick In 2018,As NFF Boss Reneges On Agreement
Published: April 11, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com can reveal the real reasons behind Ambassador Chris Giwa’s face-off with the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation led by Amaju Pinnick.
Only last Friday, a Jos-based Federal High Court reportedly sacked Pinnick and declared Chris Giwa as the legitimate president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
It is understood that the Giwa FC Chairman decided to take his case to the courts again after the former Delta State Sports Commission chief reneged on a gentleman’s agreement earlier reached that he will take over the top NFF seat on the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent.
The recent drama is because of the exclusivity clause which disqualifies Chris Giwa and others from contesting in the 2018 presidential election, contrary to the agreement between the parties and the Minister of Sports.
As things stand, Amaju Pinnick is not interested in the renewal of his mandate in the next two years and only wants to use his position in the Nigeria Football Federation as a springboard to get a seat on the CAF and FIFA Executive Committees when his mandate expires.
The flamboyant NFF supremo has anointed the Chairman of the League Management Company,Shehu Dikko, not Giwa, to take over the presidency from him to compensate him for the LMC’s financial support to the NFF since he took over power.
