Barcelona Defender Godswill Ekpolo Happy To Debut For Nigeria Against Brazil
Published: March 26, 2016Barcelona defender Godswill Ekpolo,20, has expressed his happiness following his debut for the Nigeria Under 23s in their heart-warming 1-0 win over Brazil on Thursday night.
The wing-back was handed his baptism of fire by Dream Team VI interim coach Fatai Amoo after he replaced Sodiq Popoola in the second half of the contest at Estádio Kleber Andrade - Cariacica.
“Football gave me the privilege to be part of this fight spirit team, my national team Nigeria U23,” Ekpolo said.
“So happy for my first debut and win against Brazil -0-1, one of the greatest teams in the world... More to come and more to fight for. Olympic you have been so great.”
Ekpolo was born in Benin City but has lived in Spain for about 14 years and could have represented the European powerhouse internationally before he pledged his future to Nigeria.
