Liverpool Loanee Taiwo Awoniyi Scores First Professional Goal
Published: March 18, 2016Nigeria U23 international Taiwo Awoniyi opened his goalscoring account for FSV Frankfurt in their 2-2 draw against FC Heidenheim in the German 2 Bundesliga on Friday night.
The Liverpool loanee had previously played six games for Bornheimer in all competitions before finding the net for the first time at the Voith-Arena, racking up 385 minutes of playing time in the process.
In the 22nd minute, Awoniyi was the quickest to react after Heidenheim netminder Jan Zimmermann pushed a goal-bound effort into his path and he stabbed home from close range.
Aged 18, the Imperial Soccer Academy product is on loan at FSV Frankfurt from Liverpool until the end of the 2015-16.
Internationally, he will head to Brazil this weekend for the Nigeria U23s friendly against the South American powerhouse next Thursday.
