Falconets Drawn With Spain, Canada And Japan In World Cup
Published: March 18, 2016Fifa has completed the official draw for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be staged in Papua New Guinea from 13 November and 3 December 2016.
African powerhouse Nigeria were drawn into position B4 and will face Spain, Canada and Japan in the group stage.
The Falconets begin their quest to win the trophy for the first time with a game against Japan on November 13 at Bava Park, Port Moresby, then three days later face Canada at the same venue before concluding group play against Spain on November 20.
The Nigeria U20s have qualified for the knockout rounds in each of the last six tournaments, finishing second in 2010 and 2014 while they placed 4th in 2012.
Nigeria qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after beating Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa in the CAF U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
