Portland Timbers Striker Fanendo Adi Vows To Work His Socks Off Against Egypt
Published: March 16, 2016Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi is eagerly looking forward to making his long awaited debut for the Super Eagles and will do everything possible to meet the March 21 deadline set by coach Samson Siasia.
Immediately the Timbers tackle Real Salt Lake in the MLS on Sunday morning, Adi will hop on a plane to link up with his international teammates for the first time and will spend at least 15 hours in the air before arriving in Abuja.
“I will try to arrive as early as possible, sure the time difference is a huge factor but I am sure I will meet the 21st arrival deadline set by the coach,” Fanendo Adi said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“It is going to be a big experience for me, my first time to ever play for the country is a big deal. I am very humble for this opportunity and I have received it with open hands.”
Adi has one thing at the back of his mind, which is to work extremely hard during preparations and assist the Super Eagles climb atop Group G of African Cup of Nations qualifying by beating the North Africans.
“I believe it will be a good day for us all against Egypt, knowing that we all have to work hard and as a group to achieve the set goal which is winning but I am very happy and excited for the opportunity, ” added Fanendo Adi.
Adi trained with the Golden Eaglets before switching to AS Trencin in 2009 but did not play competitively for the team.
