Odion Ighalo Back On The Goal Trail As Watford Record Shock Win Against Arsenal
Published: March 13, 2016Odion Ighalo got on the scoresheet for Watford in their shock 2-1 win over Arsenal in the sixth round of the FA Cup at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigeria international had scored 15 goals in all competitions but failed to find the net in his last seven games prior to the contest against the Gunners.
Ighalo hit his 16th goal of the season in the 50th minute and Adlene Guedioura struck thirteen minutes later to put the visitors 2-0 up before substitute Danny Welbeck netted what turned out to be a consolation for Arsenal in the 88th minute.
The Hornets number 24 was left isolated in the 18-yard box, half turned, before firing past Ospina. Few minutes later, he was in the Arsenal penalty area again and was ready to shoot but was put off by a defender.
In the 68th minute, Alex Iwobi joined the fray and had two good opportunities to equalize right at the death but was unlucky not to score.
On 90 minutes, the 19-year-old struck the post and his shot went just inches wide in the second minute of stoppage time.
Scotland international Ikechi Anya came off the bench in the 73rd minute, while a tired Ighalo was subbed off eight minutes from time.
