Ideye Excited Olympiakos Broke Their Own Record For Fastest - Ever Title
Published: February 29, 2016
Brown Ideye has celebrated Olympiakos winning their sixth straight Greek Super League title and the 43rd in their history on Sunday following the 3-0 thrashing of Veria at Karaiskakis Stadium.
The Nigeria international and his teammates broke their own record for the fastest-ever title which had been set during the 2012-13 season when they were crowned champions on March 10.
With six rounds left before the end of the regular season, Olympiakos have 18 points more than nearest challengers AEK Athens but were still crowned champions because they have a better head-to-head record.
“So excited to be part of history today!! Fastest championship winners in Greek football history. God is great!”tweeted Brown Ideye.
Ideye was an unused substitute against Veria but has appeared 20 times in the Greek top-flight this term, scoring 7 goals and notching 4 helpers.
