Brown Ideye Disappointed To Crash Out Of Europa League
Published: February 26, 2016Brown Ideye could not hide his disappointment after Olympiakos failed to advance to the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, losing 2-1 to Anderlecht in extra-time on Thursday night at the Karaiskakis Stadium.
Frank Acheampong scored both periods of extra-time to condemn the Greek champions to defeat after they leveled the tie through Konstantinos Fortounis in the 29th minute of the contest.
“I am very disappointed with today’s result, so is football though. I am very sad we lost in the last 30 minutes,” Ideye told reporters.
“We should try hard and always leave such moments behind. I am very sad for the people who supported us from the first time but did not give them the qualification.”
Ideye,27, was involved in every single game contested by The Reds in Europe before they exited the Champions League and Europa League and racked up 705 minutes of playing time.
