Akeem Latifu Agrees Terms With FC Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk As Red Tape Blocks Move To England, Holland
Published: February 22, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that two unnamed English Championship sides explored the possibility of landing the signature of Nigeria international Akeem Latifu before he agreed terms with Ukrainian top-flight team FC Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk.
The right-back becomes eligible for a Norwegian citizenship in the next twelve months or so and will probably join an English team after he is issued the document in the not too distant future.
While a move to England in the winter transfer market failed to materialize due to red tape, Latifu’s proposed switch to the Dutch Eredivisie hit the rocks as the interested club could not pay him approximately 500,000 euros yearly wages which his is entitled to as a non-EU player.
Aalesund had offered the defender a new contract but his intermediary Tony Harris turned it down for a new challenge elsewhere.
The Akwa United product has agreed a one-and-a-half-year contract with FC Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk.
