Flying Eagles Star Akinjide Idowu Delighted With Move To Portland Timbers
Published: January 23, 2016Flying Eagles star Akinjide Idowu has expressed his delight at sealing a move to MLS outfit Portland Timbers and hopes to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Fanendo Adi who assisted the Oregon outfit win the MLS Cup in 2015.
Though the duration of the contract has not been disclosed by The Timbers, it is understood that the 19 - year - old will remain at Providence Park until the end of the 2018 season.
“I had a couple of giant offers in previous years but never had a concrete understand with any of the club,” Idowu told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Portland Timbers is a very good team with lots of great players like my Nigeria brother Adi Fanendo who had great success last season and also helped the team to win the MLS Cup.
“They got a concrete and promising program for me which makes the whole thing exciting for me, I love it here because everyone is excited with me coming into the team.”
Akinjide Idowu has not yet been allocated a jersey number by Portland Timbers but has requested for the number 44 jersey.
