Sunday Oliseh Confident Of Super Eagles CHAN Chances
Published: January 12, 2016Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, is confident of his side’s chances at the African Nations Championship which begins in Rwanda this weekend.
The home - based national team have set up a training camp in Pretoria ahead of the tournament and have been involved in two tuneup games, winning Monday’s game against Ivory Coast and drawing with Angola.
“We have some knocks but I think everybody is ready. Most of these players have already trained with the so - called A Team,” Sunday Oliseh told supersport.com.
“But as far as I’m concerned we don’t have A or B, it’s still about the same thing, just that these ones are plying their trade back home .”
Oliseh has tipped Tunisia, who square off against Nigeria in the preliminary rounds, as one of the favourites to qualify from the group as several of their stars have established themselves in the main squad.
“Tunisia, they have won it because of the fact that their league is a very solid one, so it’s no secret. They can afford to even have home-based players play with the first national team, several of them.
“We have built our local league which was a promising one this season that just went by. For us it is going to a very, very competitive tournament, ” the former Juventus and Ajax Amsterdam midfielder concluded.
The Super Eagles finished in third position at their maiden appearance at the African Nations Championship, with a certain Ejike Uzoenyi picked as the best player of the tourney.
