Etebo Oghenakoro And Victor Osimhen Win CAF Awards
Published: January 07, 2016At a gala ceremony held at the International Conference Center in Abuja on Thursday night, Borussia Dortmund sensation Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was crowned African Player of the Year for 2015.
The Gabon international tallied 143 points ahead, followed by Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure (136 points) and Ghana star Andre Ayew (112 points).
Nigeria Under 23 international Etebo Oghenakoro scooped the Most Promising Talent award, beating teammate Azubuike Okechukwu to the award.
The Youth Player of the Award went to Ultimate Strikers poster boy Victor Osimhen, who beat Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali, Malian duo Adama Traore and Samuel Diarra and Yaw Yeboah of Ghana.
PSG defender Ngozi Ebere missed out on the Women’s Player of the Year award to Gaelle Enganamouit (Cameroon), while former Ivory Coast manager Herve Renard was adjudged Coach of the Year ahead of Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke.
The Platinum award went to Muhammadu Buhari, the President of Nigeria.
