Azubuike Egwuekwe Missed Out On $250,000 Per Season Deal With Al Ahly
Published: January 03, 2016New KuPS acquisition Azubuike Egwuekwe missed out on a dream move to African powerhouse Al Ahly prior to agreeing terms with the Finnish club.
Representatives of the Egyptian Premier League club had negotiated a deal with the Nigeria international in the summer and he had agreed to join them on the proviso that he is offered $250,000 per season as wages.
“I called Azubuike from Dubai and he also spoke with my partner, Captain Sofian Bary on phone and he was asked how much he wanted as salary from Al Ahly, ” United Arab Emirates - based agent Tony Udemagwuna told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“He was told to send a photocopy of his international passport but we didn’t hear from him again, maybe he believed that he had a better deal elsewhere.
“I am now hearing he has signed for KuPS, there’s no way they will pay him the money that was offered by Al Ahly.”
Italian Serie A club Atalanta were also in the running for Egwuekwe but later pulled out of the race due to the indecision of the central defender.
