Gbolahan Salami Hoping To Join Super Eagles Today
Published: December 16, 2015Warri Wolves striker Gbolahan Salami has been contacted to know the reason behind his non - appearance at the Super Eagles camp in Abuja.
The home - based national team started preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championship without the top goalscorer in the domestic championship but he has now claimed that he will have his first training session with the squad on Wednesday.
“I will enter the camp today (Wednesday ) and I hope to train with them this evening, ” Salami briefly told allnigeriasoccer.com in a telephone conversation.
Tijani Babangida, Sunday Oliseh’s special assistant, added : “We are still expecting Gbolahan. He said his wife just delivered but we are expecting him any moment from now.”
The former Shooting Stars hero was the highest goalscorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League, with 17 goals to his name at the end of the 2015 season.
The Super Eagles trained twice on Tuesday, in the morning and evening, under the tutelage of Salisu Yusuf and Tijani Babangida.
