Dream Team VI Players Threaten To Boycott Africa U-23 Cup Of Nations Final Over Outstanding $126,000 Bonus
Published: December 10, 2015Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that the Dream Team VI players have threatened to boycott Saturday’s final game at the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations against Algeria as a result of unpaid entitlements.
The players and officials have not received a single dime from the Nigeria Football Federation or the Sports Ministry since they were told to report to camp in Abuja for the tourney before traveling to Senegal through Gambia.
It is also understood that the NFF did not make adequate provision for playing kits, jerseys and boots, and this demoralized the players but they still managed to qualify for the showpiece game, nonetheless.
Each player of the team is supposed to receive $2,000 winning bonus for every game won and $1,000 for a draw during the tournament .
The players are being owed $126,000 in total (that is $6,000 per player) and they have vowed not to honour the final game this weekend unless the Federation pays them the outstanding bonuses.
